This issue, the editors of Women of New Braunfels wanted to salute mothers, all kinds of mothers. Motherhood is an experience that either happens to us or an experience that we embrace and live, learning from mistakes and most importantly teaching our children. The significance mother’s play in the lives of their children is remarkable. It is remarkable that any human being could have so much effect on any life. The mother that is elated the day she finds out she is expecting or the mother who is horrified, they all share a common thread no matter what decision they make; mother’s impact the lives of their children. The mother who gives her child up for adoption to the mother that adopts her child, it all impacts and becomes part of who a child is. There are many different kinds of mothers; single mothers or widowed as in the case of Lana Herall, mothers who have adopted like Barbara Short and mothers like Crystal Hill living with a debilitating autoimmune disease. It does not matter how you become a mother, or how your life is altered by unforeseen events and illness; what does matter is how you live and handle everyday. The mothers you are about to meet are an inspiration to women everywhere. These women have chosen to take each day as a gift and live it to the fullest; believing in themselves and the opportunities God gives them. Come in side this section and be inspired by these mothers, draw strength and faith from their experiences. There is no greater gift that we are given here on earth but that of our children. I am sure that you will value each of these stories as much as we have. These three women, Crystal, Lana and Barbara have already taught me valuable lessons.
